To implement a number of traffic calming features to assist managing the speed at which traffic flows through the village in particular, Station Road. To also implement a 20mph zone to cover the entirety of the village to enforces a slower speed environment.
Background
The Parish Council and Cornwall Councillor have raised concerns about several issues mainly about the speed through Carnhell Green. The local community have suggested that Station Road should be a priority.
Scheme Objectives
To increase both road and pedestrian safety through the village and encourage active travel throughout Carnhell Green with the lower speed environment, making this a safe route to travel along. The implementation of traffic calming features allows drivers more time to react to any danger through the aid of more time due to the lower speed. This proposal adds one additional set of speed cushions (3 abreast) on Station Road before the junction, as a modification to a wider project in the village that was already consulted on earlier in the year. One set of speed bumps has already been removed from in front of the post office in the designs as a result of the consultation.
I agree with the 20mph speed limit but find the need for speed cushions a totally unnecessary and expensive addition. Other communities have been given 20mph zones without the need for road hardware.
Fully support traffic calming measures and 20 mph speed limit.
