Parish Council seeks volunteer Directors for new “Gwinear-Gwithian Sustainable Community Fund”

Jun 21, 2012 | Parish News

The Parish Council has been successful in negotiations with Cornwall Council to allow funds, contractually contributed by developers of commercial wind and solar installations, to be paid into a new charitable company fund based on the Parish boundaries.

This fund will receive long-term contributions (typically 20-25 years) from developers and will be responsible for the allocation and distribution of these funds to projects within the Parish which are sustainable, environmental or for energy conservation as well as sustainability and conservation education. Currently, the Fund expects to distribute about £30-£40,000 each year.

The fund is in its final stages of legal preparation before it is registered with the Charities Commissioners as a charitable company.

The Fund will be independent of the Parish Council and as such Directors are sought to run the Fund. There is a need for 6 Directors – 2 from the Parish Council and 4 from the Parish-wide community. It is hoped to have at least one director drawn from each of the communities of Gwithian, Connor Downs and Gwinear areas.

The positions are unpaid and will require attendance at about 3 meetings a year plus some email correspondence. If you would like to know more, please contact Brian Pocock on 01736 754985 or brian.pocock@ggpc.org.uk  If you would like to apply for a directorship, please email Mrs Vida Perrin (Parish Clerk) at clerk@ggpc.org.uk .

Closing date is Monday 2nd July 2012.
