Rail disruption this Christmas

Dec 10, 2016 | Parish News

Great Western Railways are undertaking improvement work to the rail network over Christmas this year.

Full details are on their website https://www.gwr.com/travel-updates/christmas-2016 but the key thing to note is that London Paddington will be closed to all rail services from Saturday 24 December to Thursday 29 December.

This will mean GWR rail services starting and finishing at Ealing Broadway, where customers can make a connection to the underground, or scheduled bus services for travel into London.

Ealing Broadway does not have step-free access.  GWR are therefore recommending that customers from the West of England, who are travelling with heavy luggage, children, or who find steps difficult to change at Reading and use services from there to London Waterloo.  This will mean a longer journey and GWR will be alerting customers to the changes well in advance so they can plan ahead.
